Canadian Consumers Will Drive Hondas From China

Consumers in the Fallston area may not know that Honda has a pretty significant production presence in our neighbor to the north. Honda Canada churns out the beloved Civic, several variants of Acura and a number of Honda parts. But one popular model not made in Canada is the Honda Fit. Until recently the small hatchback has been created in Japan but has now begun to arrive from China.
In order to combat fiscal difficulties surrounding the rising value of the Japanese yen, many automakers are taking production elsewhere. Honda Canada is welcoming the Fit from China in order to gain profits and continue to sell a model that is well-suited for the nation's lifestyle. In light of high gas-prices and lower disposable incomes, the affordable, award-winning Fit is a perfect automotive solution.
For those who question the quality of a Honda model built in the new location, company officials say that consumers have nothing to worry about. Jerry Chenkin, Executive VP for Honda Canada, explains, "We are fully confident that these vehicles meet all Honda standards."1 Chenkins says the automaker has brought in electrical power generators from Honda plants in China for a while now and has seen only the highest of quality displayed.
At this point in time, Bel Air Honda at 1800 Bel Air Rd Fallston, MD 21047 won't see a change in where it receives new Honda models from. In the future, a production window in Mexico may open up for U.S. imports. Be sure to stay tuned to our Bel Air Honda blog for more information as it's released.
