"Take me out to the ball game, take me out with the crowd. Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack, I don't care if I never get back..." Too many of us take that childhood memory for granted. In retrospect, those ungrateful should consider themselves lucky as a huge percentage of children today aren't as fortunate.
Honda has taken a proactive approach to what they deem a real inequity. For the past 15 years, they've sponsored Little League Baseball and Softball - and not missing a single year.
Little League Baseball and Softball make up part of a larger organization known as the Urban Initiative. Honda, in working with the program has donated an estimated $800,000 to the initiative and helped the lives of nearly 43,000 youth in the U.S.
If this sounds like a waste of time to you, think again. It's opportunities like this that teach lifelong lessons and skills to our children including teamwork, discipline, practice, sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyles. If nothing else, it's an important chance for the less-fortunate to experience childhood.
